What type of insurance is included in the rental prices?

In the European Union, all car rental companies are required to insure their vehicles with Third Party Liability Insurance covering Material Damage and Bodily Injury to Third Parties, for the minimum amounts specified by law.
Additionally, the following insurance packages are provided:
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with Excess - With this coverage, the renter's financial responsibility in case of damage to the car, limited to the vehicle's bodywork, is reduced to the amount of the deductible/excess specified at the beginning of the rental and depending on the selected category.
  • Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) with reduced Excess - This insurance package is optional and available upon request, with an additional daily cost depending on the rental duration and selected category. By choosing this insurance package, the renter's financial responsibility in case of damage to the car, limited to the vehicle's bodywork, is reduced upto 50%.
  • Theft Protection (TP) with Excess - The renter is liable upto the Excess amount in case of theft of the vehicle during the rental period.
*Note that this insurance does not cover theft resulting from the renter's negligence, such as leaving the keys in the ignition while absent, leaving the engine running while absent, or failing to lock the vehicle while parked.
  • Personal Accident Coverage (PAI) - With this coverage, a specific amount is ensured for the driver and passengers in case of bodily harm and/or death as a result of a road accident that occurs during the rental period.

Am I covered for any damage with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)?

No, not all damages are covered under Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW). Both packages include important coverage, but there are specific exclusions that are not covered by any insurance. For example, damages to the underside of the vehicle, tires and wheels, or any damage resulting from misuse, such as driving off-road, wrong refueling, damage to engine, gearbox, or clutch, interior of the vehicle, etc., are not covered.
For a full list of exclusions, please refer to the "Not Covered cases" section in our General Rental Terms.

Is it necessary to sign the rental agreement even if my reservation has been confirmed?

Since the legal owner of the rented vehicle is the rental company, the rental agreement is the document that authorizes the customer/renter to use the car according to the terms specified. Additionally, basic details such as the vehicle's license plate number and brand are not recorded at the time of booking. Furthermore, the customer may decide to avail additional services offered by the company at the time of vehicle pickup, such as requesting additional coverage, category upgrades, changes of the rental period, etc. Therefore, by signing the agreement, the customer accepts the rental agreement and can legally use the vehicle for the period specified in the rental contract.

Can I rent a car without a credit or debit card?

Yes, in most cases a credit or debit card is not required, as we operate with a No Deposit policy. Depending on the selected vehicle category (cabriolet, luxury, etc.), a card may occasionally be requested.

Can I make a reservation for a specific car model, and how can I ensure that I will receive the one I reserved?

Reservations are made based on the car category. Each category includes various models that share similar characteristics, such as engine capacity, passenger capacity, fuel type, luggage space, etc. The Car Rental Company is obligated to provide any available car belonging to the category you have reserved, not a specific model, brand, or color.

Can someone else drive the car I have rented?

Yes, only if they have been declared as an additional driver and their details have been registered in the rental agreement, which they must also sign. Otherwise, the insurance coverage does not apply.

Can I drive with my rental vehicle off-road or to Balos beach?

Please note that our rental vehicles are intended exclusively for normal road use and passenger transportation. They are permitted to be driven only on the paved road network of Crete, including national roads, highways, and provincial roads.

Driving the rented vehicle off-road or on unpaved surfaces is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, dirt or gravel roads such as the road leading to Balos Beach, beaches, rocky areas, mountain tracks, or any other non-authorized routes.
Off-road driving may cause significant damage to the vehicle, particularly to the tires, rims, suspension, and underbody. Please be aware that all insurance coverage becomes null and void if the vehicle is used on such roads. In such cases, the renter will be held fully responsible for any damage, mechanical failure, recovery costs, or additional cleaning required.
Furthermore, an administrative fee of €300 will be charged in all cases where the vehicle is used for off-road driving or on unauthorized roads, including the road to Balos.

We kindly ask our customers to respect these conditions in order to ensure their safety and the proper use of our vehicles.
